Now I Know Why!

As my father used to say, "Fall has Fell". The leaves are starting to turn color. Two mornings last week, the grass was white with frost. And the window air conditioners are stowed away for another year (which will probably cause a heat wave!) Today it's raining, and sort of warm-ish. At the store where I work, Christmas decorations are flying off the shelves . . . . really!

This morning, I found out just why my Cranberry bush doesn't do well. I caught this little fellow and his brother having brunch off it. They stayed around a little while; when they saw me watching, they stared right back at me, as if to say "this is our bush, lady; go get your own!" I think mama deer was in the back yard, because they both ran back into the gully at the back as if someone had called them.

I've been wanting to make a Tree of Life quilt for a while now, so for the oldie for this week, I've picked "Little Beech Tree" from the KC Star.

I found something similar in EQ6, called Steps to the Altar, and tweaked it a bit to get this:

Of course, it would probably just be easier to pick up a copy of Quilter's Newsletter magazine, which has a beautiful Tree of Life quilt on the cover, and follow their directions!

Well, my part-time job is currently netting me full-time hours, and my blogging has been neglected, but I promise to post as often as I can! And I'm seriously thinking about taking up hand applique, because I can do that after I fall down in a heap in front of the TV in the evening! For now . . . . .

Happy Quilting!
Maggie

Wow! Frost already! We're not quite to that point yet, but I feel it coming. We've had TOO many spiders in the house -- yuck! I sat down at my sewing machine the other day, and a huge one went galloping out across the studio floor. Since then, I've found about 4 more . . . makes me real careful when I go to reach for anything, especially in the dark. Our Amish friends say it's a sign of a hard winter ahead -- I hope they're mistaken this time.
Maggie, you need to send me your address so I can send you the packet you won. Email me . . .

No frost here in Maine yet either, but I sure was surprised to realize the leaves are already turning. I think the tree of life block is a very pretty block, lots of opportunity to use scraps, and it'll be fun to see yours develop.

Frost warning again tonight! Ick!

Prairie Moon . . . you should have an email waiting for you. If you don't get it, please post something here and I'll try again!

Thanks!

SueR, I'm looking forward to making this one; who says a tree quilt has to be green!
